World Famous Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

Tour of New Mexico - October 1 - 9

Oct 1-4 - We will be riding to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the opening day of the World Famous Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta - where over 1000 hot air balloons of all different colors, shapes and sizes take to the skies. While in Albuquerque we will ride to Madrid for lunch, a tiny old mining town made famous in the film Wild Hogs. Time permitting and if there is interest, we will ride to the top of the Sandia Mountains…then at night take the World Famous, and longest Tram to the peak for breathtaking views.

  • Wed Oct 1 is from St. Charles to Kansas City.
  • Thursday October 2 is from KC to Liberal, KS.
  • Friday, October 3 we arrive in Albuquerque.
  • October 4 we start VERY early to get to the Balloon Fiesta grounds

Oct 5 - From Albuquerque we will travel to Roswell, NM to see some Aliens, then on to Carlsbad, NM and visit one of the great wonders of the world, Carlsbad Caverns, where at dusk millions of bats fly out of the cavern for their nightly hunt for food.

Oct 6 - takes us to White Sands and the Trinity site where the very first nuclear bomb was detonated. We then head North to Santa Fe, the oldest continuously inhabited state capital in the United States..

Oct 7 - in Santa Fe we will shop in Old Towne and visit the Miraculous Staircase in the Loretto Chapel and other local interests, perhaps visiting my Dad at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. We then head to Denver, Colorado.

Oct 8 - begin the journey home with a ride from Denver to Omaha, Nebraska.

Oct 9 - the final stretch home from Omaha to home.

Closed Event: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Closed Events are those events open to Chapter members and one guest per member.  All guests must sign an event release. Be aware, all rides and events are subject to change or cancellation due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control.

Impairment Policy: The consumption and use of alcohol is a serious personal responsibility involving the safety of family, riding friends and the individual HOG member. Alcohol consumption before or during a motorcycling activity is not safe, responsible behavior. McHenry County IL Chapter #4067 does not allow the use of alcohol or drugs before or during a riding event* and does not furnish alcohol at Chapter rides. Riders whose skills are observed or suspected to be impaired by alcohol or drugs before riding cannot join the ride. Riders using alcohol or drugs while riding will be asked to leave the ride. It is the responsibility of each Template Chapter member to support the consistent enforcement of this policy

Photography Policy: Photographing, filming, recording and videotaping of activities and events will be occurring McHenry County IL Chapter events. By entering the H.O.G.® event area, you irrevocably grant permission to the Harley-Davidson Motor Company® and its agents to photograph, film, record and/or videotape you and use (and authorize the use of) your name, image, likeness, voice, and/or biographical or other information in any and all media now known or hereinafter developed in perpetuity for any and all purposes.
